Meet Our Founder
Ashley Leonard
Founder & Executive Director
Ashley Leonard is an educator, children’s book author, and youth development professional with a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and experience in classroom education, social-emotional learning, and juvenile justice settings.
Throughout her career, Ashley has worked with young people from diverse backgrounds, helping them develop self-awareness, strengthen decision-making skills, and recognize their potential.
Her passion for youth empowerment inspired the creation of Sidewalk Kids, a children’s book centered on choices, environment, and personal responsibility. That vision later grew into The Sidewalk Kids Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities and life skills development for young people.
Through the organization’s signature initiative, Think Before You Do, Ashley aims to equip students with practical tools to navigate peer pressure, understand consequences, regulate emotions, and make informed decisions.
Her belief is simple: Every young person deserves the opportunity to recognize their potential and understand that their choices can help shape their future.
